(240 minutes) On the 25th anniversary of the first diagnosed cases of AIDS, FRONTLINE examines one of the worst pandemics the world has ever known on The Age of AIDS, airing Tuesday and Wednesday, May 30 and 31, from 9 to 11 P.M. ET on PBS (check local listings). After a quarter-century of political denial and social stigma, of stunning scientific breakthroughs, bitter policy battles and inadequate prevention campaigns, HIV/AIDS continues to spread rapidly throughout much of the world. Through interviews with AIDS researchers, world leaders, activists, and patients, FRONTLINE investigates the science, politics, and human cost of this fateful disease and asks: What are the lessons of the past, and what can be done to stop AIDS?

| Today's famous musicians are still enjoying guitar designs more than 30 years old. The popularity of Leo Fender's "Stratocaster" and "Telecaster" electric guitars are here to stay. No one changed the sound of guitar music more than him. In fact, he so improved the clarity of the amplified vibrating string that almost every style of music played on the guitar sounded better. For five decades finicky musicians made pilgrimages to Leo's R&D labs to discuss their musical frustrations, to work out better ways for guitars to function. This interview-driven documentary is an attempt to show this complex, dedicated man gain success as a true innovator. Pat Anderson, Tom Haller and Thierry Humeau are hard at work to complete a 10 minute pilot by next fall. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
